Simon is a veteran in the hydroponics industry, having worked in it since 1996 following the completion of his degree in Biochemistry and Biotechnology.

Simon has a healthy obsession with all things science, strongly believing in the intersection of theory and practise. A typical day for him can be in the lab mixing, on the floor managing logistics, or in the office developing pricing strategies, a true workaholic.

This is not surprising knowing his history which involves multiple accounts of pioneering product types and developing existing formulas.

After selling his retail business in 2013, Simon became a Director of AquaLabs and continued with product development, bringing to market the Shogun and Silver Bullet range. He has continued applying his 20 years of retail and formulation expertise to create a true next generation fertiliser range with a multitude of cutting-edge advancements that truly set Shogun apart.

Callie has worked in the hydroponic industry for almost 20 years and has applied her vast academic qualifications to the formulation and manufacturing methodology of a wide range of successful hydroponic, soil and coco fertiliser products.

Callie is a driven academic who has had research papers and academic studies published around the world. She is a regular technical contributor to a number of hydroponic specific publications and is highly regarded in the industry as a reference point for definitive plant information. Callie’s speciality is formulation chemistry and it is her expertise that allows some of the real innovations in our products to be formulated together into stable and high performance products.

Callie’s understanding of plant chemistry is second to none, and her access to global research in plant science has led to huge innovations in the formulation of the SHOGUN range of nutrients. She also leads the product and field testing for AquaLabs, ensuring our product performance is verifiable and consistent to our high standards.

Justin is a pioneer of the hydroponics industry, having been involved since its earliest days. He opened his first retail store, GroWell Hydroponics, in 1994, growing it over 25 years into the largest hydroponics retail chain in the UK before selling the business in 2019.
At the core of Justin’s career is a deeply held customer-first philosophy. He believes that long-term success comes from putting customers first, genuinely caring about the people within your team, and creating a working environment where individuals feel listened to, valued, and part of something bigger than themselves.
As a founding Director of Aqua Laboratories, Justin brought this philosophy and decades of frontline retail experience into the business. This influence is clearly reflected in the formulation and positioning of the Shogun Fertilisers range, where every product was designed to outperform what already existed in the market. Drawing on years of direct customer interaction, Justin understands that growers demand better results from brands they trust and believe in.

Matej is the marketing Shogun of the team. With his extensive global marketing experience, he is ready to jump on the newest trend and the next cool thing to make Shogun well represented in the virtual world of social media as well as the reality in stores of our retail partners.

You can always find Matej with his notepad and spreadsheets planning the next big success for Shogun. In his free time Matej loves to travel and explore new places and new types of beer. Simply loves beer and can talk about it a lot :D

Jay has a love for all things hydroponics and after a decade in the industry, he has now become a part of our Shogun Clan.
