Premium nutrition, engineered for coco

Samurai Coco is Shogun’s flagship two-part base nutrient, formulated specifically for coco coir’s unique chemistry. With the combined power of SmartZen® Maximiser and AquaZen® Slow Water technology, Samurai Coco goes beyond standard feeds to deliver stronger roots, more efficient nutrient uptake, and consistently higher yields.

Why Samurai Coco Outperforms Standard Feeds

  • SmartZen performance — Increases photosynthetic efficiency, optimises nutrient use, and drives measurable yield gains.
  • AquaZen advantage — Advanced wetting agent disperses water evenly through coco fibre, eliminating dry pockets and improving root access to both moisture and nutrients.
  • Tailored for coco — Balanced calcium, magnesium, and trace elements overcome coco’s natural cation exchange quirks for stable, predictable results.
Complete, consistent nutrition — Two-part A&B formula provides full macro and micro coverage, ensuring your plants never run short.
  • Trusted reliability — Researched, refined, and independently tested for consistency in any grow system.

The AQUAZen® Edge

Fixing the hidden problem in coco

In coco systems, dry pockets and uneven water flow can leave roots gasping. Fabric pots and drip lines make this worse, with water running straight through and skipping large areas of the medium. AquaZen® solves this by restructuring how water moves through coco, spreading it evenly and cutting out dry spots .

Science in action

AquaZen changes water’s surface tension, allowing it to penetrate coco more effectively. Instead of channelling down one path, moisture disperses laterally, soaking the full root zone and giving plants 100% access to their feed .

Why growers notice the difference

  • More consistent hydration in coco and fabric pots.
  • Stronger root development thanks to uniform access to nutrients.
  • Reduced risk of dry-back stress in high-performance drip systems.
  • A healthier, more predictable environment from top to bottom.

Without AquaZen®
These trial data images show that the water and nutrients move quickly through the pot where it then congregates at the bottom which is far from ideal.

With AquaZen®
As you can see Samurai Coco with AquaZen incorporated perfectly illustrates the even lateral movement all the way to the sides and down the pot.

Real-world results

AquaZen® transforms how water moves through coco, spreading moisture evenly instead of channelling straight down. That means full root-zone hydration, stronger roots, less dry-back stress, and healthier, more consistent crops every time.

SmartZen®: Built-In Bio-Stimulant Power

SmartZen® is Shogun’s exclusive bio-stimulant package, designed to give plants more than just nutrients. By stimulating natural plant processes, SmartZen helps crops:

Push yields further
Proven in independent trials to deliver up to 8% higher harvests compared to standard base feeds.

Maximise efficiency
Enhances nutrient uptake and use, ensuring plants get the most from every drop of feed.

Reduce stress impact
Supports resilience to heat, drought, and environmental fluctuations by strengthening key metabolic pathways.

Boost energy production
Increases chlorophyll and photosynthetic efficiency, keeping plants powering forward through the cycle.

SmartZen isn’t an add-on — it’s integrated into Samurai Coco, giving growers a hidden edge that turns a strong base feed into a performance formula.

The Science Behind Samurai Coco

Samurai Coco isn’t just another base feed — it’s engineered with built-in technologies that give plants a measurable edge. SmartZen® boosts photosynthesis and nutrient efficiency, while AquaZen® ensures even water and feed distribution through coco for stronger, more reliable growth.

What Sets Samurai Coco Apart

Samurai Coco isn’t just feed — it’s a performance system built into your base nutrition.

  • Bigger yields — SmartZen® boosts photosynthesis and nutrient efficiency, delivering proven output gains.
  • Consistent hydration — AquaZen® stops dry spots, keeping the root zone evenly fed.
  • Reduced stress — Plants handle heat, drought, and transplant challenges with greater resilience.
  • Coco-specific balance — Correct Ca/Mg ratios and trace elements prevent lockouts and deficiencies.
  • Stronger roots, stronger crops — Healthy root zones mean faster growth and more reliable harvests
The Shogun Advantage
  • Lab-developed, grower-tested — Designed by Dr. Callie Seaman, trialled in professional and hobby grow rooms.
  • Independent testing — Every batch verified for accuracy and consistency.
  • Versatile use — Works across all coco systems: hand-watered, run-to-waste, or recirculating hydro.

Are you using water straight from the tap, or R/O water?

"Hard" and "soft" are terms used to describe the quality of many water sources. Hard water has a high mineral content, which can cause hard, white lime scale to form on surfaces and growing equipment. Hard water may also have a high alkalinity and a high pH, meaning that considerably more acid is required to lower the pH in the hydroponic system to ideal levels. Soft water, by comparison, is a low mineral water source. Often rainwater is ‘soft’, while municipal water sources across the country range from very hard to soft, depending on where the individual city water supply is taken from. Other water types Some growers prefer to start with water which has been pre-treated to remove any chemicals, pathogens and other contaminates. RO (reverse osmosis), distilled water, filtered and bottled water are all options for small growing systems and those concerned with water quality. To understand your water type, simply immerse your EC/CF meter in your background water, read the display and select the applicable 'water type' or enter your own 'Custom' value.
