Shogun Zenzym: Your Root Zone Game-Changer

Healthy roots need a clean environment. Zenzym clears away waste material, keeps systems running smoothly, and recycles nutrients locked up in old root matter. The result: stronger root development, more efficient uptake, and a healthier grow from start to finish.

Why Growers Rely on Zenzym

  • Root zone hygiene — Breaks down dead roots and debris, keeping the environment clean and efficient.
  • System protection — Prevents blockages and build-up in drippers, pumps, and recirculating lines.
  • Media recycling — Extends the life of your coco or substrate, saving cost and waste.
  • Nutrient unlock — Converts organic matter into plant-available nutrition.

The Science Behind Root Zone Optimisation

Over time, roots naturally shed material, creating blockages and nutrient “dead zones.” Zenzym’s specialised enzymes break this material down into usable nutrients, while clearing space for new root growth. This keeps the root environment clean, active, and productive.

Why Enzymes Matter for Root Health
  • Multi-enzyme blend — A mix of cellulase, xylanase, and β-glucanase works together to recycle waste into nutrition.
  • Cleaner substrate — Reduces organic blockages, keeping irrigation lines and drippers clear.
  • More efficient uptake — Frees up locked nutrients, improving availability throughout the cycle.
The Shogun Advantage
  • Independent 3rd Party Lab Tested — Verified quality and consistency in every batch.
  • Perfect partner to Katana Roots — Zenzym clears the way, Katana drives new root growth.
  • Works across all systems — Reliable in soil, coco, and hydro.

Are you using water straight from the tap, or R/O water?

"Hard" and "soft" are terms used to describe the quality of many water sources. Hard water has a high mineral content, which can cause hard, white lime scale to form on surfaces and growing equipment. Hard water may also have a high alkalinity and a high pH, meaning that considerably more acid is required to lower the pH in the hydroponic system to ideal levels. Soft water, by comparison, is a low mineral water source. Often rainwater is ‘soft’, while municipal water sources across the country range from very hard to soft, depending on where the individual city water supply is taken from. Other water types Some growers prefer to start with water which has been pre-treated to remove any chemicals, pathogens and other contaminates. RO (reverse osmosis), distilled water, filtered and bottled water are all options for small growing systems and those concerned with water quality. To understand your water type, simply immerse your EC/CF meter in your background water, read the display and select the applicable 'water type' or enter your own 'Custom' value.
